Apple-Mango Dog Treats

These Apple-Mango Dog Treats are bright, fruity, and super easy to make. Apple sauce and mango purée give them a naturally sweet smell (dogs go wild for it), while oat and rice flour make the dough easy to roll and cut into fun shapes. Bake them until lightly golden, cool completely, and you’ve got a simple homemade treat your pup will happily approve.

Dough Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the apple sauce, mango purée, oat flour, rice flour, and shredded coconut. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  3. If the dough feels sticky, add a little extra oat flour (1 tbsp at a time). If it feels too dry, add a small spoonful of apple sauce or mango purée.
  4. Lightly dust your work surface with oat flour. Roll the dough to about 4–5mm thickness.
  5. Cut out cookies in any shape you like and place them on the prepared sheet pan.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, until set and lightly golden at the edges (smaller shapes bake faster).
  7. Cool completely before serving.
  8. Store in an airtight container: up to 3 days at room temperature, or up to 1 week in the fridge.

Notes

  • Use unsweetened apple sauce and plain mango purée (no added sugar or xylitol).
  • Because fruit purées vary in thickness, the dough may need a little more oat flour — add it gradually.
  • For crunchier treats (and longer storage), turn the oven off after baking and let the cookies sit inside with the door slightly open for 15–20 minutes.
  • Cut smaller shapes for training treats, or bigger ones for an occasional snack.
  • As always, treats are treats — keep portions small and adjust to your dog’s size and diet.
